Changing page type, but retain LocalLink #?

Newb here. I searched, but could not find the answer.

I have a page that was created using a 'basic page type' instead of a 'category item'. I need to create a subpage, but Umbraco restricts this.

How do I change the main page's type to category item, while still retaining the same localLink number for the main page? The existing link # is used throughout the site, so I'd like to avoid changing the # if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi,

Nope. It is not possible to change a document type for a document once created.

Disagree. Click on 'Structure' tab for a document type to set what child documents can be created.

It's not possible. How's the existing link # used?

    Regards,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Throughout much of our product copy on the site, we link to this one page, since the topic is of growing importance to our customers. There are so many text links scattered, it would have been painful to find them all.

I was able to change the child documents available for that doc type, and it worked like a charm.

    Thanks a bunch.

-Really enjoyed a recent trip to Houffalize and Liege. Great people and scenery.
