    TUTORIALS?

How can we label Umbraco as a true open-source "friendly" CMS when there is little to no documentation on the software?

I am considering purchasing a commercial license for Umbraco, but I want to give it a test drive first. I have been pulling my hair out trying to get Umbraco work the way I want it to.

Where is documentation for this CMS located?

If I'm going to pay over $1,000 US for the software I refuse to pay for tutorials. And I will not pay for the software unless I know it works for what I need.

    Please help, thanks.

    Hey,

Here are some links that should get you started: http://www.nibble.be/?p=56

A good way to learn umbraco is to install a starter website like cws http://umbracocws.codeplex.com/ and just take a look at how thing are working

Or you could subscribe to umbraco.tv (http://umbraco.tv/videos)

    Cheers,
    Tim

I'm currently a developer on the PHP mySQL platform. I am learning C# asp.net fairly quickly. I would like to post my discoveries and templates to share with the world. After learning the CMS, my first goal will be to create a more friendly back-end template similar to Joomla in the PHP world. Is the codeplex site you referred me to the place to do this?

    Thanks again.

    Hi Kevin,

Codeplex for umbraco is at http://codeplex.com/umbraco, best place to add comments/bugs/requested features.

CWS is a very useful package which can be imported in umbraco so people can learn more about the basic building blocks. It's built 'on top' of umbraco, whereas umbraco project is the core for this cms.

Any thoughts on the 'create a more friendly back-end template' idea?

    Regards,
    /Dirk
