I am looking to evaluate Umbraco and have just subscribed to Umbraco.tv but have a couple of questions that I hope are fairly straight forward.
We currently use and develop sites with Sitefinity which is a good system but the cost of the license have gone up and we do not feel that it worth the money when a lot of features have been left out in the new version and it is very buggy to say the least.
Anyway back to my questions, first - I have seen the video to create a top level menu with a seperate sub menu down the side, what I want to know is, is it possible to have multiple sub levels as per the attached image.
Second question - does Umbraco have a document library where admins can upload pdf's, docs etc... and then output the files onto the web page? I have also attached an image of the output in our current CMS.
Yes, it's possible to have a nested navigation menu / dropdown navigation. There are no limits in Umbraco it's just a matter of matching the right nodes etc. using either XSLT or Razor for instance (Which, you'll learn more about by watching the videos on Umbraco TV).
There is a media section, which you can structure any way you would like too. However uploading images and files is a bit tedious so for this task I recommend you take a look at the desktop media uploader package (DMU) by Matt Brailsford, which makes uploading and creating media a breeze :-)
Please notice that if you're uploading files that are bigger than around 4-5 MB I think you need to amend the size limit in the web.config - And you should also make sure that the proper file types can be served by IIS (I'm mentioning this, since I've experienced issues with this in the past and that it's really related to the IIS configuration)
I hope this answers your questions - otherwise please don't hesitate to ask further :-)
