My little bit of research indicated that the Umbraco forums were fantastic. I've posted some relatively simple newbie questions and got no responses. Am I doing something wrong? Not following a protocol here?
Here's my last post that got no responses: http://forum.umbraco.org/yafpostst9484Basic-Question-How-do-I-manage-multiple-writers.aspx
We should start a club. :) I'm no one to critique this crew but I assume the really skilled ones here are prolly very busy.
Part of your post reminds me of my recent one regarding multiple articles on the same page. I didn't get much response on it but my frustration led me to go ahead and sign up for umbraco.tv which can be had for a mere $25. There I found a vid called 'Creating a news list' which I think will answer my quesitons and may help with yours. If it does it will have been worth the $25 to me, not to mention it supports the project.
OTOH, I'm one of those stubborn types that is not deterred by being incometent so I've made my decision to use/learn umbraco, dangit, and will do anything, even pay actual money, to make it happen. Aside from having actual skills, you may also have better survival instincts. :)
Surprised of no answers in the forum
