How to copy paste images directly into TinyMCE editor from web pages

I am trying to achieve something similar to what someone has done with Drupal/TinyMCE, e.g. copy/paste of an image directly into TinyMCE results in the image being saved into the page.

Initially I was looking for the page to contain an external URL/reference to the original image (as seemed to be the default behaviour of TinyMCE within Drupal).  That didn't seem to work with Umbraco...the past action results in the src attribute containing a whole lot of crazy characters - I presume the image encoding.

Anyway, what some clever spark has done with Drupal is allow the image copy/paste to work AND when that occurs, it automatically uploads the image into a media folder and saves a copy.  How cool is that...

Is there anything similar available for Umbraco?

Any ideas welcome (except, 'go use Drupal'!)...

p.s. I tried copying the image into the 'Paste from word' dialogue - although the preview shows the image it results in the same as above, i.e. garbbled codes in the HTML.

p.p.s. This isn't anything to do with TinyMCE stripping elements out when you press Save - I've allowed everything.

    p.p.p.s. Drupal equiv. is http://drupal.org/node/107799

    Hi Mark,

    Welcome to the community!

There is no functionality in Umbraco or available as a package to support this.

The best approach would be to create the image via the 'edit image' button and then add it to the RTE. Alternatively you could upload all images directly into the media section using Desktop Media Uploaded (http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/desktop-media-uploader)

Neither of these solutions actually acheive what you were looking for.

Can anyone else provide a better approach?

    Chris

This is a problem because of popular embed codes like the pinterest one. Anyone found a fix for this?
