Problem running mulitple sites from one Umbraco installation
Hello
I am currently hosting a site in development for a client
off of my main domain as a subdomain i.e. client X's test site is
x.mydomain.com. Now we want to run his other sites, Y and Z from the
same Umbraco install. We added new content pages off of new templates,
Managed Domains, and set it up in our hosting, but the y.mydomain.com
and z.mydomain.com are showing default "this site has been created
by..." instead of the template from Umbraco. I am wondering if there are
some settings we are missing, or if the problem is occurring because
the sites are subdomains. The bindings for each individual site are
capturing unassigned IP addresses with the host names. Thanks, I
appreciate any help that can be provided!
I figured out what I was doing wrong. The editing of the bindings were supposed to happen off of the main Umbraco site. So in IIS, right click on x.mydomain.com --> Edit Bindings, the dialogue box appears, then Add a binding. Select "All Unassigned" for IP address then in the Host name, add "y.mydomain.com." Do the same for "z.mydomain.com." I'm a little dense so after rereading the Wiki article here everything made more sense. Hopefully this helps others. Cheers!
