What tools do you use to check for broken links and identify orphaned files for an Umbraco driven website?
There don't seem to be any packages that work with the new schema. I tried Xenu, but it requires FTP access to the server for the orphaned file check, which we don't have.
Sorry to hear you're frustrated at not having this functionality when you have the need.
I would say that most developers here are involved in maintaining sites as well as building them and if there is enough demand for something usually it will get built by the Umbraco community and released as a package.
As Umbraco is open source and has a fantastic API so this functionality could always be built by the development team who built your site.
If 'Xenu' (I have no idea what this is) will solve your problems could you work out a way to get FTP access or get a download of the site and run 'Xenu' locally?
I have tweeted. I contacted @slace and he said he no longer had access to the source code since he no longer works at TheFarm. I contacted TheFarm via email form on their website weeks ago and haven't gotten a response.
It amazes me that something so basic and routine to maintaining a website - searching for broken links and orphaned files - doesn't have enough demand for there to be up-to-date packages available for use. Or, that experienced Umbraco developers aren't aware of a third party tool that could be downloaded and used for that purpose. It was easy to do in Dreamweaver, but not easy to do in a CMS.
I work for a government agency. We hired contractors to build the site for us, but me and a small team are now responsible for maintaining it. We don't have the requisite experience in .Net to work on a package ourselves.
I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thank-you.
Might be nice to know that I'm working on an SEO Analyzer wich helps you discover and fix Broken Links and much more basic SEO mistakes., Hope to have more details or a screencast very soon.

Any suggestions?
So, nobody has any kind of tool they use to assist with media management?
Anyone?
So, do the folks here just build websites and aren't involved in maintaining them? Surely I can't be the only person who has run into this issue.

Also I'm not sure if you've asked @slace for the source code for http://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/thefarm-media-link-checker in return for upgrading it to work on 4.7?
You could also put a tweet with the #Umbraco hash tag out to see if anyone would like to collaborate writing a package for this purpose.
As a last resort I’m sure if you posted a request in the job section here someone would consider building this functionality for you for a fee.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Rich
