I found that it happens when the logged in user doesnt have the rootnode as startnode in the content area. it is rather business critical to lock down the content area in various ways for different users. Shouldnt the umbraco search be able to work without having access to all nodes?
It may be a bug, which should be reported to codeplex. But before doing so please let me know the exact version of Umbraco that you're experiencing this on and then I will try to test things when I get home tonight.
Thanks, I'll check it out. It's possible that this has actually been fixed in 4.7.1.1 - so maybe you can make a quick POC install to see if the problem persists or not?
User has problem with Umbraco Search
Hi,
A user experiences problems with the umbracosearch not responding to input.
Instead of displaying results it kind of flickers as the user types.
The user uses Internet explorer 7+
Thanks,
Hi Frederik
Does this happen in other browsers than Internet Explorer 7-9? And what version of Umbraco are you using?
Have you tried using fiddler to see what is going on? Perhaps some scripts are missing, perhaps some permissions have not been set properly etc.
/Jan
Thanks Jan for leading me in the right direction.
