Paste from Word issue in Umbraco 4.7.1

    Hi,

I have built a new website for a customer in Umbraco 4.7.1.1 and have just found that there is a serious issue with trying to paste from Word. If I just do a normal paste into Rich Text Editor then the formatting is way off. If I use the "Paste from word" button then when I paste into the window that pops up it looks good but as soon as I hit "Insert" the formatting is all wrong, the biggest issue is that the bolds and italics are lost.

The issue appears to be reported here http://umbraco.codeplex.com/workitem/30656 but as of yet there seems to be no solution. This is a major issue for me with this site and it is stopping it going live. I have tested on older sites that I have such as Umbraco 4.5.1 and the "Paste from Word" works really well keeping the bold and italics.

I really cannot stress how big an issue this is for the customer because the ability to paste from Word was one of the main reasons they decided to move from their current CMS. Does anyone know of a way to get around this issue even if it is a temporary fix until a patch release comes out. I did try replacing the "Paste" folder in "umbraco_client\tinymce3\plugins" with one from an Umbraco 4.5.1 installation but this did not resolve the problem. I am hoping that someone might know a solution to this problem that doesn't involve me having to redo the site in Umbraco 4.5.1.

    Hi all,

I know I only posted this earlier today and it is probably expecting a bit much for a response so soon, especially on an issue that has been around for a number of versions and even Umbraco have not yet fixed but is there anyone out there that can offer any advice or suggestions regarding this problem? It really is very urgent and is holding back months and months worth of development from going live?

    Many thanks

    Tony
