I come to you as a luddite who can just about get his head around basic content management interfaces (i.e. Wordpress). My company has purchased Umbraco and wants to start an in-house blog; I've done this fine and dandy, but the appearance is 'capsulised' - i.e. a blurb, with an entreaty to click for the full article. We're keen to have a steady flow of posts (e.g. akin to the Wordpress or Blogger formatin appearance), rather than the current model.
I've tried altering the design using the Design tab, but that leads to a nigh-on blank page, with the words Your current theme is '', and a link saying 'Change theme', which fails to load skins or designs when clicked.
Is there a simple way to change the format? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Umbraco can be configured in multiple ways since it's really just an empty shell when it's been installed. Not packages are installed and nothing has been defined regarding information architecture in the content section etc.
Since you write that you have purchased Umbraco I think that what you mean is that you have purchased a website/blog from a company implemented in Umbraco since Umbraco is an open source project. Umbraco HQ sell support, which includes som of the bi-products of Umbraco for handling forms for instance.
If my asumption is correct I think you need to contact the company who have build the website/blog for you and ask them for help about how to set it up.
If I'm mistaken and you have setup the blog yourself then I would like to know if it's been build custom from scratch or on top of the uBlogsy package?
Blogging on Umbraco (appearance)
