Set order of 'Choose Document Type'

    Hi all,

I'm trying to finish my news pages using the nice AutoFolder package. When creating a new newsItem the popup 'Create'-window asks which Document Type to be created in 'Choose Document Type'.  In my case there are two options 'AutoFolder' and 'News Item' (as the Autofolder is needed to make the datefolders), but he 'AutoFolder' is chosen as default, which i would like 'News Item' to be instead, so my clients don't have to remember to change it... Is it possible to set which Document type i want for default (like templates)? And are the Document Types always alphabetically?

    Thank in advance :-)

    Cheers, horsted

    Think it's alphabetic.

_ comes before a, so I often find myself adding that to the names of doc types so they "rise to the top".  or you could call your autofolder "xAutoFolder"

    Messy, I know.

Thanks for your fast answer Dan, which was like I thought - so 'xAutoFolder' is is for now... It would be a nice feature to have to be able to set a default Document Type (like templates) though - so should we add it to codeplex?

Why not, but I think you'd need to flesh out exactly what the functionality should be - "default document type" is a bit ambiguous.

    Hi

I haven't tried this with the AutoFolder package... but it sounds similar to the DateFolder Package and 'DateFolder' docType.

I use it with media releases and under the parent doctype I have unchecked 'DateFolder' as an allowed child nodetype.  This removed it from the Choose list and all new items still get automattically created in date folders under the parent node.  It dosen't sound logical but it seems to work...

    Cheers

    Evan

Just removed the DateFolder package and tested this with AutoFolder and it works in the same way for me.

The folders are getting automattically created even if is not checked as an allowed child nodetype.

interesting... Seems like child pages can be created via the API that aren't allowed to be created in the interface.

Sounds like business logic in the presentation layer to me ;-)
