Is it possible to write webparts for use in umbraco? I want users to be able to move datatypes around in the canvas editing view. This way they can customize and not have to just use pre-defined templates for layout.
Thanks,
Rick
Rick,
Take a look at http://our.umbraco.org/projects/widgetframework project although this is not used in canvas it may be give you some ideas.

Hi Rick,
If your interested in the WidgetFramework source I can email it to you.
I believe it is also in the 4.1 (maybe v5) plan to incorporate widgets into the Umbraco Dashboard.
Cheers,
Chris
Tried the demo and this is exactly what I am looking for! Can the user save the layout after widgets are moved?
The layout changes are saved as soon as the move/drop happens.
Try moving a widget and then refreshing the page, the widget will be in the new location.
Watching the ajax calls via Firebug will help you work out what's happening.
