    Deleted content nodes still accessible

    Hello everyone!

This is my first post - a question about an odd problem I'm having.

BTW I'm using Umbraco 4.0.2.1, SQL Server 2008 Express, Vista/IIS7.

I deleted a content node but I am still able to view it in my browser (FireFox and IE).

I have tried republishing the entire site and clearing my browser's cache - it's still there.

With such a small number of content node in the tree - I can plainly see it's not there, yet it still gets served.

Another thing: I created a new doctype, template, and a new content node with that name and published it. Saw it in the browser like I would expect.  When I deleted the new one - the old one returned in the browser - still not showing in the content tree.

I'm very puzzled as to why this would happen.

    Cheers!

    David Hill

The raw xml file is saved in data/umbraco.config. Check this file and see if your page exists in here?

If it doesn't then it definately shouldn't appear on the front end.

Thank you, Chris, glad to be here and also enjoying using Umbraco.

Yes - that was another thing I checked was the cache in umbraco.config - not there but yet it still renders on the front end!

It's strange. Anything else you can think of?

Try disabling caching of the macro that outputs the link/txt. Is this a standard xslt or user control macro?

Are you sure you are not looking at browser cache? Did you try to delete your local browser cache?

Thanks Chris and Roel.  I cleared my browser's cache early in my attempt to isolate the issue.

I cannot explain what the cause was but I had a simple content node (in root) called "default" - all it contained was a line of text with a simple template and no macros/xslt/UCs.  When I unpublished "default", i got a 404 when trying to load the "phantom" node I referred to earlier.

Very odd as there was no reference to the phantom node whatsoever.

Apparently there was something going on with content nodes map and urls that I still do not understand.

    I do appreciate the replies.

When I run into caching issues I usually publish the complete site again from the first node which you created yourself. Make sure to check the boxes to publish all the child items as well.
