I was wondering if there is a smart way to organize the media library when you have a lot of images and files. Or if it is possible to make the search function in the backend, search through the media library as well as the content tree.
One of the best solutions that I can think of, is some kind of tagging system. Where it would be possible to tag every image, and then include all the mediafiles in the search function (including the tag off course). But I can't find any topics about this in here. Does anyone have a system like this, or is it posible to activate some of it? Or am I just dreaming :)
I have looked at it, and it seems like a very nice feature, even though the package "only" sorts the items in the tree. So yeah, I am sure that I can use it :) I have some problems with it although, so I have contacted Simon for some help.
But it could still be neat if the backend searchengine could search the media library as well as the contenttree. Or the tagging part i was mumbling about :)
Have you looked at adding additional properties to the image media type within the settings section ? This won't help with the backoffice structure, but could be useful for tagging images from the front-end prospective.
Yes I have had that thought as well, and I plan doing that for alt-tags on each image. I think it's a good idea, and a good way of giving the user an opportunity to write unique alt-tag :)
But my media library with 250+ images is kind of disorganized right now(off course I have seperate folders to organize just a bit), so some kind of filter-/search-/tagging-option would be very cool and a big thumbs up...
By the way. Have anyone actually tried the Media Sorter-package that Jan proposed? I sounds like a cool package, and I think that it could help a lot with the organization.
Organizing Media Library
Hi all

Hi Kim
Maybe you should try and have a look at this package by Simon: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/media-sorter
I have not tried it myself yet but maybe you can use it?

Yes indeed that would be a nice feature. Maybe you should post a suggestion about it? :)

You're right. I think I will do that. But rigth now, is there no way of searching in the media library in the backend what so ever?
