Hopefully this is some helpful information, but if you do decide to go with SQL CE 4, you can always migrate the database later, if necessary. I had a site that started as SQL CE 4, but at the pace it was growing, I decided to go ahead and make the migration while it was still relatively small. In my case, I migrated the database to MSSQL.
Definitely creates more work in the long run, but just wanted to point out that you can do a migration in the future if necessary.
Thanks toboth of you Iwillstart with anUmbraco4.11.6anduse MySQLas I know for mycustomer. LaterI willmake a testsite and gettestedSqlCE4 Thank youtoboth of you:-)
sql CE 4 vs. MySql
Hi
I just tried to install an Umbraco 6.0.3 and I could not get it to approve a MySQL database which I have done before in previous Umbraco versions.
What I really want to know is whether a SQL CE 4 is safe enough to use and function just as well as a MySQL?
It seems incredibly easy to use the SQL CE 4 - almost too good to be true - so I just want to hear your opinion on the 2 databases.

Hi Kate
How big do you expect the site to become? SQL CE performance is slower than MSSQL/MySQL but if it's a small site then it may not be a problem.
However there are some issues with MySQL in v6, which you can see a bunch of here http://issues.umbraco.org/issues?q=mysql
Perhaps some of the issues reported can help you figure out how to get v6 running on MySQL.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jan
Thanks for your reply
Would you use SQL CE 4 to one of your customers even if it is a small site?
/Kate
Hi Kate
It depends what you define as a small site - if it's not more than a 1000 nodes I don't see why not? :)

Thanks to both of you
I will start with an Umbraco 4.11.6 and use MySQL as I know for my customer.
Later I will make a test site and get tested Sql CE 4
Thank you to both of you :-)
