    Access to pages

    Hi all.

I have created mediatype for Page and MediaPage (just a mediatype with attached mediapicker and few labels, describing e.g. pdf files). That allows the content user adding such MediaPages in the backend. Those MediaPages are never directly opened (by http address).

Now, I have to list those media files on one page, but at the same time show/hide those that shouldn't be accessible by some members (to be exact , to some member groups). To list those, I've created usercontrols that simply run through nodes to gather children and list them somehow.

At the same time, I have to let the content users have the ability to control which group has access to this MediaPage (again, which is just extended pdf file).

I've been thinking about it and as far as I understand, I could use the 'Public Access/ Role Based Security' feature which is available in the backend interface. Just during the listing of the MediaFiles, make few more checks on whether the current member has access to this MediaPage.

As I don't have too much for that part and would like to avoid wasting it - do you think it's a good path/way or is there some better solution for this problem?

Can someone move this thread to Extending umbraco?

It seems to be a better place for this kind of question...
