This refers to my experience in Umbraco 3.
I have noticed some odd behaviour when deleting media files and was wondering if this is by design.
When i check "remove file" on a media file then the file is not deleted from the file system.
When i delete the media slot from media the file is deleted but the physical folder remains.
This means that if there are any old versions of a file kicking around in a folder they stay there and can be indexed by Google etc.
Should this not happen:
Checking "remove file" deletes the file but not the folder.
Deleting the media slot deletes the folder and its contents.
It would also be useful if there were some way in the UI to see the contents of a media folder to see if old versions of files still exist.
