Can I remove or change the default en-US language?

I'm using Umbraco 6.1.4 and I want to set the language for the site to en-UK.

Under Settings > Languages I've changed the default English (Untied States) option to be English (United Kingdom)

I didn't want to just add a new English (United Kingdom) language because I don't want both languages to appear in the Dictionary section, just English (United Kingdom).

What I've done has worked fine for the Dictionary section and even though I've not set up the Hostname on the site yet dates are appearing in en-UK format where before they were en-US, so that's good.

The problem is that I want to set the Culture/Hostname for the site but that is still only showing en-US as an option?

    Hi Matt,

I just tested it on a version 6.1.3 and it works.

The way I did it was first add the new English (United Kingdom) language so you have English (United States) and English (United Kingdom) language, and then set the Culture/Hostname for the site to en-GB after doing this. You go back to the language folder under settings, and delete the English (United States) language.

Hope this can help you solve you issue.

    /Dennis

    Thanks Dennis,

I was avoiding the deletion of the default English (United States) language because I'm sure that in the past it's caused me problems but then sometimes not.
I think there's some posts about it too so I was hoping not to run into them again.

I took a look in the database and interestingly the content of the umbracoLanguage table has changed, the ISO code is now en-GB but the name remains en-US.

Seems a little odd and I may just change it in the database but I think your answer is just as good if it goes smoothly.
