Hi Sarah and welcome to our,

To create a responsive website with Umbraco you could one of great the frameworks that has the functionality. It could be Twtter Bootstrap or Foundation to mention few, there are probably more.

Jorge Lusar has made a package named uBootstrap it's a Starter Kit for Umbraco based on Twitter Bootstrap you could take a look on this. You can find the package here.

    http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/ubootstrap

Don´t know if this package will work on Umbraco 6.x and if you´re using version 7, I don´t think the package will work. You can also make you own setup in Umbraco just using the the files that you can download on Twtter Bootstrap or Foundation.

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the reply. The package you mentioned in http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/ubootstrap wont work for umbraco6.x as you said.  Can I develop the site without using a template? Can I create html5 page and integrate to umbraco from site admin?

    Hi Sarah

You can't do anything without a template. The template is where all your markup for representing the data of your document types are placed. It's pretty crucial :)

You can use any kind of markup you wish - But make sure you keep HTML etc. in your template or macroes, since editors should not have to worry about this stuff.

In regards to responsiveness it's actually up to you to define the proper breakpoints for displaying your site on a mobile phone, tablet and desktop etc. so Umbraco does not limit your creativity and freedom in anyway in this matter.

    Just my 2 cents.

    /Jan

So I should use some template, but can edit pages in that so that I can make it responsive. Am I right?

Actually I thought of dropping the idea of using Umbraco. After I joined this forum, feeling hopeful!

I have lot of doubts,in fact I am not able to figure to which category I should post one doubt

Is immediate child node of the content tab, the master page? Please help me to specify place for menus in that page

    Hi Sarah,

I would recommend you to take a look at this free basic videos on Umbraco TV.

    http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/fundamentals/

By seen this vidoes you will get the basics about how to work with Umbraco. The videos shows it in version 7, but it is the same for version 6.x.x and 4.x.x, there so some things that you don´t can do in version 6, but it´s enable list view, but basic principles are the same

Hope this can help you understanding Umbraco, and how to work with it.

    /Dennis
