What is the Anchor dropdown in insert link (tinymce3) do?

A small question about the "insert link" functionality in the rich text editor:

There is an "anchor" dropdown which is showing a dropdown with only one option filled withthree dashes:  ---
Does anybody know where I can use it for?

    Howdy

It's for in-page links (anchor links).  if you have a long page you can e.g. insert an anchor at the very top.  Then when you next create a link you have the option of linking to an anchor (.e.g creating a "back to top" link and pointing it to the anchor).

It works when you have a valid anchor within the content.

    • Highlight some text within TinyMCE content
    • Press the anchor button
    • Type a name in

    • Now select some text you want where you might want to 'jump' to the anchor you just created
    • Press the anchor link
    • Now the 'Anchor' drop down box will show the anchor you created in the first step.
