    Hi,

And how do you want to control the Content create? You want to limit what type of content? Give us some more info, it's not clear what you're asking for at the moment.

    Cheers,

    /Dirk

    Hi Ysee,

If you are trying to limit what content can be created at the top level, the best way to do this is to create a "site" folder at the top of your tree structure and then go to the user configuration and change their first node to be the site folder. You can then restrict which document types can be created below the site folder. ( where as it's not possible to restrict the document types at the top content level )

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Ysee,

You set the permissions of who can create content in the Content Node in the User's section.

If you want to restrict a user from creating content in the Content Node you need to change their root node:

"Start Node in Content" should be changed to usually your "site" or "homepage" node.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi Ysee,

As Chris noted above, this cannot be limited on a per user basis. The Root of the site MUST have access to all Document Types in order to for contributors to be able to define nodes for those Doc Types. The best practice is to create the homeapge node (as you indicated in your last post) and from there create all of your sub folder/pages and then set permissions on those nodes.

This should allow you to go to Users > User Persmissions > [User] and set the necessary permissions on a per-node/child node basis. Following this structure also allows you to organize and setup different domains for the site (to support multi-lingual sites etc.)

    Ysee,

All permissions for users are setup in the User's section.

If you are trying to change which documents can be created under your content node, this is not possible as all document types can be added under the content node. So if you wish to restrict top level documents, you need to do this by adding a "site" node as mentioned above and allowing users access to the site node instead of the content node.

You do this in the Settings / document types / Structure Tab

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Ysee,

We have already explained how to change the permissions within Umbraco.

You cannot change the permissions for the Content Node.

But you can create a child node and set all users to access the child node as the top level of their content area.

To do this, you need to do the following:

    1. Create a document type called "site"
    2. And a content node called SITE using the site document type.
    3. Go to the Users section and for all your users set "Start Node in Content" = SITE
    4. Now the only person who can edit the content node is the site administrator
    5. Your users can only access the SITE node and they can only create content from this level

I suggest you also add your home page under the site document in the content section and then right click the homepage and set this as your top level node by using "manage host names"

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi,

Yes the defauilt content node will always exist.. but if you change the setting "Start Node in Content" in the User Section as I have mentioned above your users will not see it.

    Cheers,

    Chris

But new users still be able to see “Content” node

    ----------------------------------------------------------

"Content"-Create can see all of the document type

I do not want to use a new user

    Hi Ysee,

The only way to do what you are asking, is to use a seperate user. You should have your main administrative account and at least one other account for your content editors, which means you can then restrict them to not editing the content node as I have described.
