Using Live Writer and Word 2007 to Publish Content.

I managed to use Live Writer and MS Word 2007 to publish content to Umbraco.

Live Writer Build: 14.0.8089.726 en, Copywrite 2009.

It was not working before, and the problem is that I was not choosing the correct Type of Blog. It must be "Metaweblog API". Now it is working fine.

However, after testing several functions, I faced only the following issues:

    1. From Live Writer, when I click "View Blog", it will open the website using an incorrect URL. I check the Account Setting, and found "web address of the blog" as follows:

    http://umbracocms403/umbracocms403/en.aspx

where it should be as follows:

    http://umbracocms403/umbraco/channels.aspx

No matter what I do, it will not be set to the value I provided to Live Writer. So, I guess this is a Live Writer Issue.

    2. From Word 2007, I can publish new content successfully, with nice drawings too ! But, when I open exiting pages, it will not show the embedded images, and it will show red X insted.

    3. From MS Word 2007, the posted images are not associated with a link to show the image in a full view like Live Writer.

    Appreciate your feedback.

    Tarek.

    Hi, Tarek,

You're right about the bug with LiveWriter. Unless it is a bug in the Metaweblog API implementation in umbraco.

With Word 2007, I've see both of these issues but ONLY when using a port number for your website. This happens with Cassini, for instance. If you're running on the default http port then all works properly. You can view the html source of the published page and should see the links to images but without the proper port number. That, too, is either a bug in Word or in umbraco's implementation of the Metaweblog API.

    cheers,
    doug.

We've found this works better if you create a new user that isn't  an administrator but a normal content editor, with access to the blogpost.

for administrators we had similar issues, witht he specific users we don't.

I am using normal user with only required access to the blogpost node.

Still I am facing the reported issues above.

    Tarek.
