Strange behaviour when editing files in Visual Studio?
I have opened my umbraco website in visual studio and am editing css and master page files, and when saving them sometimes old changes appear to be re-populating in the file, or at least some other process is editing/overwriting them at the same time because I'm getting the unsaved symbol '*' even though I have just saved a file.
Hmm...sounds weird. Have you checked if your files are protected or read-only, so that you don't have the rights to edit them? Can you edit/save the files from inside Umbraco backend?
Didn't you just say that you couldn't edit the files from VS :S
But to your other question - Yes Umbraco does update the physical files on the disc. If you in example edit the template-files, xslt-files or css-files they will all be changed on the disc.
Umbraco stores a copy of the files in the DB as well, although I haven't seen it magically changing local ones if they already exist (without clicking Save in the CMS).

What's going on here?
Thanks

Yes, I can edit from either VS or the backend, it's strange - does umbraco update files at all?
