Content editors (basic ones) are having trouble to create an mailto link in Umbraco. After selecting a piece of text in the rich text editor and clicking the hyperlink icon there is no basic mailto feature. This would be a nice addition to the current functions!
We're running into this same issue today... Wanted to bump this thread, and see if anyone had any other suggestions or updates on how to more easily allow this? It's a pretty common thing for some of our users' content pages.
Mailto: links are automatically formed in IE, but not in Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Not clear if this is an Umbraco or TinyMCE issue. Umbraco is always behind on TinyMCE updates because HQ basically doesn't like TinyMCE.
It's a pain in the ass for content users and a real waste of time to deal w/.

Hi Bram,
easiest way for them to get it working: Just teach them to enter: mailto:[email protected] as URL in the link-popup.
That way, it will be a mailto link immediatelly.
I do agree, it would be a nice addition though. Could you report this a s feature-request on Codeplex? That way it will be seen by the core-team.
You posted this now in the forum-part for reporting bugs for our.umbraco.org only ;)
HTH,
Peter
Moved it to this category, as it's indeed no forum issue
Cheers,

Someone posed a solution here:

It appears the above solution may have been put inot 4.9
