No possibility to disable notifications for a child node?

    Hi!

I tried unchecking notifications on a particular child node, when the parent node has notifications. It says save ok, but it's still not saved. When I open up the dialog again the setting is still there.

The db table does not save anything for this either, I guess the function is not complete.

    4.0.3

    Regards

    Jonas

That's a bug. Please report it on codeplex.

I reproduced the problem on a 4.0.3 install and noticed that if I set 3 notifications on the parent node I could 'unset' some of them and they would save the settings properly on the child node. Unless I tried to 'unset' all of them, in which case all the parent items were re-instated on the child.

I can imagine the logic of wanting to re-instate the settings of the parent but perhaps there should be a checkbox specifically for "inherit notifications from the parent" or thinking of it from the other direction, "do not inherit from the parent" or some similar phrase to make it clear for the user what is being done.

As a workaround, you might simply add a notification for something that will never happen on your site (translation, perhaps?) and then you can leave that set on the child nodes while still being able to de-select the important notification(s).

    cheers,

    doug.

Ah, great find, thanks Doug, worked fine! I did try to add the issue at Codeplex but got "The server experienced an error." (Irony or what?)

    Regards
