There are a number of search packages available for umbraco. I'm partial to XSLTsearch (I should be, I wrote it) but there are others. Each has its strengths. If you simply want to search your site's content then XSLTsearch is probably the easiest solution... you'll have a full site search in less than 10 minutes. Customizable and full docs.
If you need more than what XSLTsearch provides, click the 'search' tag on the http://our.umbraco.org/projects page for more options.
And, Google has no problem indexing umbraco sites so you could still use your custom google search if you wanted to.
Searching an Umbraco site
Is there an easy way to add a site search, to search all my pages? I'm hoping someone will tell me there is a package already for this...
I have Google custom search already set up on my old site, but after I put the site in Umbraco I'm assuming Google won't work anymore.
