Tom, you should be able to use your own icons for document types, if you have put them in the correct folder: /umbraco/images/umbraco
If you have already put your images here, try refreshing the page, to see if the new icons will appear in the drop-downlist under the document types. You shouldn't need to reference the images anywhere.
This should work, as I have done this plenty of times.
I've always ignored the depreciated label... (one of the first things I usually do is install the FamFamFam icons package), perhaps it's just an indication that the UI is to change from a DropDownList, or to use css sprites instead of individual images ?
Adding my own icons to Umbraco for Document and Media types
Hi All,
Basically my question is as mentioned above.
How do I reference my own icons to Umbraco for Document and Media types?
I've copied them to the relevant folders but I can select the icon onlt the new thumbnail image.
Thanks
Tom
Hi Tom,
You've probably already done this, but just in case...
The thumbnail images are found in: \umbraco\images\thumbnails\ and the icon images are in: \umbraco\images\umbraco\
Once you've added new thumbnail/icon images, they should appear in the Document/Media Type edit screen dropdowns.
If you want to change the icon on a node-basis, then take a look at the Icon Picker package:

Cheers guys,
Help much appreciated, I can now seen them but now they show (deprecated) next to them in the drop down, any idea how to remove this?
Thanks
Tom
