    Need to know where the web.config file is located and its importance!

    Hi to all,

    This is Ranjith.... I am totally new to Umbraco...... But gone through the basics of Umbraco to a certain level...... I need to know where is the web.config file located?? And, how important is that web.config file in Umbraco....   What that web.config file does? If we alter the web.config file, what happens to our project??

    The following wiki reference should provide you with details on some of the Umbraco settings in the the web.config file:

    The web.config file is not only essential to Umbraco but to all ASP.NET applications and should reside in the root of your website.

    While umbraco obviously uses the web.config file and has some umbraco specific settings, it good to understand the general concepts and some non-umbraco specific properties.

    This explains a bit more about what the web.config file is in general.
