    Newsletter Studio and Timezones

    Hi Markus

Is there anything I should be setting in Newsletter Studio re: timezones as when I do a scheduled send for sites based on Azure it sends at the incorrect time (not accounting for Summer Time, so an hour out). We use the "offset time" option in Umbraco date time pickers elsewhere on our sites and that sorts the problem out. Looking within the config of NewsLetter Studio and the Newsletter Studio Sendout data type I can't see anything I can do in there to resolve the issue.

I'm guessing others who use Azure/AWS/GC/Umb Cloud may have come across this at some point too.

    Thanks!

    Hi Paul!

    Thanks for using the package!

I feel your pain here, this would be a really good improvement indeed. We're currently in the process of working on the V8-version of Newsletter Studio and we'll for sure take this request into account. As for the V7-version I think a backport of the solution for V8 would be appropriate.

Since most of the focus is on the V8-version at the moment the backport fix might take a while but I'll keep you posted here.

A question reg. this, where would you see that this could be configured? In the settings for Newsletter Studio or somewhere else?

    Hi Markus,

Within settings or the config file is probably fine either way.

I'll not lie, it's a tad frustrating we can't do anything about it on V7, because although V8 is where the dev effort from Umbraco is going, V7 is so stable that it's what all our current production estate is on. Trying to keep up the 30 or so releases in the last 16 months, of V8, just isn't feasible for those of us with lots of sites to maintain. So that backport would be great !

    Hi!

Thanks for the feedback reg. where to put the setting.

I agree, I also run an agency we have about 85% of our sites on V7 but any work at the moment is mostly around bug fixes and small tweaks on these sites.

I will do my best to get this backport out as soon as possible.

    Markus,

Will our V7 licenses be valid for V8 when it's released? So if we migrate a V7 site with Newsletter Studio on to V8, can be then continue to use that same license? Or will we need to buy V8 licenses for that and write off our V7 licences?

    Hi!

No, the license for V7 is only valid for the V7-version of Newsletter Studio. So if you migrate to V8 you would have to update the license as well.

The details around the licensing will be communicated when the new version is out but there will not be any major changes in the pricing.

    All the best!
