1. The package has been tested on v 4.7 and above, but i we have seen some people us it in older versions and implementing there own registration-control as a user control insted of the razor-macro that we are shipping (minor problem). If you have the ability to choose, use the latest version om Umbraco.
2. I'm not sure about the protocols on Lotus mail server but if it supports SMTP you are good to go!
3. The trail works forever but are limited to 20 subscribers, you can't add more than that. If you need a testrun on a bigger scale, please let me know and I'll hook you up with a temporary license. Email: markus [at sign goes here] enkelmedia.se.
I am using Windows 7, and SQL Server Express 2005.
I started installing Umbraco 4.7.1 and all is OK until I reached installing the Starter Kits (Wizard). I selected "Business", and I got error.
Then, I treid the same procedure (after I deleted everything) and installed Umbraco 4.7.0, and followed same steps until I selected "Business", and it crashed with the following error as shown below. This is a short video to show how the error is coming:
Note: I put the correct error text below, since the last one I posted was not correct, due to repeating the steps without deleting the Website Folder/Database.

I just replied to your tweet - I don't think this has anything to do with Newsletter Studio but rather it may be a bug because you are using Umbraco in a virtual directory. It's supposed to be supported but it looks like there may be a bug in the starter kit installation in this case. Check this similar thread. I would reccomend setting up Umbraco in the root of it's own site for best results.
Do you have any idea why I am unable to use the Work SPMT Server when I am connected from PC to Work Network over VPN?
Note about using local SMTP Server as relay: I also tried using "Pegasus Mail and Mercury Mail Transport" for SMPT Server, and it was a terrible experience ! But I noticed from the logs of Pegasus SMTP Window that no matter which Newsletter I am sending, it seems that enkelmedia newsletter email/domain is always referenced. Also the similar thing when I tested this using the Free SMTP Server.
The Free SMTP Server worked easily from the first time. I didn't even need to use a real SMPT Server. It seems that they use their own SMPT Server. But, it allows only 10 emails per day. Pegasus Transport Mail setup was very difficult, and it will not work unless you provide a real SMTP Server.
For using our Lotus Notes SMTP Server at work, I think I have to install the whole thing on Windows Server which is allowed to use our Work SMTP Server.
Getting to know Umbraco Newsletter Studio.
I was searching for Newsletter package under Umbraco, and I landed here.
I watched the Youtube video, and seems that this is a mature Newsletter solution under Umbraco.
At work, we are looking for Newsletter solution. We have formed a team of 5 to implement Newsletter for our IT Department.
I want to try it out before I inform the rest of the team members.
I have the following questions:
1. What is the recommended Umbraco version to use?
2. We have Lotus Notes Email Server, will it work fine with Newsletter Studio?
3. For how long the trial version will work?
Thanks for the help.
Tarek.
Hi Tarek!
First, thanks for you nice comment at YouTube!

Thanks. I am using some starter kit to see how it will fit with the Newsletter Studio.
This is the video showing the installation steps: http://www.screenr.com/2N28
Let me see how Newsletter will look now. I hope things will be OK.
Tarek.
Hi,
I have installed and tested Newsletter Studio. See video below for results:
http://www.screenr.com/yK28
When I try to use our SMTP Server (at work) when connected to VPN, it does not work.
Also, I get error when I try to send to my fastmail account when using Free SMPT Server.
But, with Papercut, it works fine.
I want to complete a real test before I goto work, if possible. I appreciate your help.
Tarek.
Just a quick update.
I noticed after a while, when SMC stopped the AntiVirus, the Email was sent by Free SMPT Server. So, the Free SMPT Server is working fine.
I don't see any problem so far, and the newsletter package is working perfectly.
I hope I can test it using our Work SMPT Server (based on Lotus Notes).
Many thanks for the great work you have done to develop Newsletter Studio.
Tarek.

All is working fine now using Mercury/32 (Pegasus) SMTP Relay Server.
I have prepared the following webcasts for complete details:

I will try it out within the next couple of days.
