In the newsletter editor, there is a button for "Add a custom field from Newsletter Studio". This appears to have 4 options, inlcuding inserting the subscriber's name. Is it possible to insert additional properties that are custom properties on the member type? We have a couple of member types with extended properties and it would be useful to be able to insert these into the emails.

You could do that but you would have to
1. Add the option to the dialog bog
2. Create a custom render task that replaces your custom field with the information you need from that subscibers.
So to be clear, there is no built in way to create extra fields on the subscribers at the moment but you could do it with a custom render task that gets the custom data from another source and merges it into the letter.
