Will Newsletter Studio Work for This Application

We want to send out a monthly newsletter, namely a list of open clinical trials, to 100 or so recipients. We currently generate our list of clinical trials on our site by displaying a selected set of nodes, each node being one clinical trial, on a text page.

    See http://www.vascular.surgery.ucsf.edu/research/clinical-research/clinical-trials.aspx

We would like to specially format that list of trials to email out add a special header and send it out monthly. The page would be generated like the printed page, but format so it can be send out as an email. (see image below)

We do not want to manually have to adjust anything on the page.We want this to be fully automated We have a MailChimp account that we can (optionally) send this out w/.

Would your application handle this? Would we be able send the emails directly from Newsletter Studio w/out using MailChimp? Does you application fall back to text if the receipient doesn't support HTML?

For licensing purposes does the basic license support subdomins? - we have a bunch of thin sites that we would be sending newsletters from.

    List of Clinical Trials

    ex. xxxx.surgery.ucsf.edu yyyy.surgery.ucsf.edu

    Hi!

Thank you for looking at Newsletter Studio!

Everything that you are looking for can be done with the package. We have serveral possible solutions you could use Render Tasks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp3SMrD4bjc) or you could send your newsletters from the content section (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fRSGgMCYaM).

If you need to create and send the newsletters without any kind of manuall touch (like no need to "push the button to send") you would have to code some simple features to handle that and if you need help to create extentions or custom features our team can be hired to help you out.

Reg. the licese our general policy is that you need one license per site but if this is the same site with multiple domains (like in a multilang-senario) we can add these domains to the license as well for free.

If you want to talk details about your solution - just send me and email at markus [at sign goes here] enkelmedia.se.

    Cheers

    Markus,

    A couple of other questions:

    1. re: the list of subscribers, does Newsletter support allowing subscribers to unsubscribe using Newsletter inside Umbraco. If not, then I assume you need a program such as MailChimp to do this?

    2. re: the statistics associated w/a given newsletter, Newsletter provides some stats. If you wanted more detailed, such as those provided in MailChimp, can you access those while still using Newsletter to send the primary content?

I reviewed some of the help files on our main product website. I am a project manager, not a programmer, so bear w/me if the questions seem elementary.

re; http://support.newsletterstudio.org/customer/portal/articles/1052901-subscription-providers - Do you need to use a provider in order to provide the functionality for users to unsubscribe - you clearly make reference to code that will do this when using a provider, but is the ability to unsubscribe w/out using a provider built into NewsLetter Studio?

    Thanks.

    Hi Richard!

    1. Yes, Newsletter Studio supports unsubscribing - you don't need any connection to MailChimp or any other email service.

    2. Have you tried the package? Or watch this demo? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmd19C1iMTM). Newsletter Studio comes with a nice analytics dashboard and the underlying data is stored in the database - if you really need to dig deeper there is always a possibility to build something custom that fetches this data - but most clients are fine with the analytics capabilities that ships with Newsletter Studio.

No, there are two providers included in the default installation of Newsletter Studio - one that talks to the mailing lists inside Newsletter Studio and another one that talks to the members section of Umbraco.

@Markus- I now see that NS can more or less provide one-stop shopping for newsletter generation and distribution . It also looks like it provides most of the reporting functionality of MailChimp w/the ability to leverage Umbraco content. We will post our experience once we get package up and running.

Great! Yes, the only thing you need is a mailserver for the outgoing emails, may it be your hosting providers or an SMTP relay-server - Newsletter Studio sends over SMTP so your free to use almost any server on the market.
