    Error: An error has occurred.

    Hello

We upgraded a U6 to U7.4.3 and of course the latest Newsletter Studio. Everything seems in order except for the creation of new newsletters. Each time we try to create a new one results in this error message: Error: An error has occurred. No details or clues on what the error might be. We have a valid license.

    Cheers, Jan

    Hi!

How did you go about upgrading the package from U6 to 7.4.3?

Since there is a lot of breaking changes moving to V7 the documentation for Newsletter Studio states clearly that there is no upgrade path between these versions.

That does not mean that it's not doable but it takes some hassle.

My recommendation to you is to:

    • Backup the data, export your subscribers.
    • Remove the package, manually delete all the database tables.
    • Install a clean version of Newsletter Studio for Umbraco 7
    • Import your subscribers again

    Cheers!

    Hi Markus

And thanks. I'll try that. One question: is there a way to reimport all the old newsletters after clean-up, mainly their content and perhaps analytics (not a must).

    To answer your question:

    • we downloaded a fresh U7- pointed to the existing U6 database before install

    • did the upgrade

    • (...)

    • installed Newsletter package (it went well and we have all data, except for the error when trying to create a new newsletter.

    Hi!

There is differences in the database and that's probably why you are having issues. I would compare the schema of the new database with your old database, if you want to keep the data you will have to manually migrate it over - there is no export/import feature.

    Cheers!
