I need to create a series of workflows that are near identical. The only difference is the instantiating group and the group of the first approval. They are separated by functional groups in the building.
For instance:
Someone from the CFO's office wants to modify the CFO page. They make that change, and the workflow instantiaion for the CFO's office catches it.
An email is sent to the CFO Approval group for review.
Someone from CFO Approval approves the change
The workflow then enters the "standard" set of approvals that are the same for everyone.
I thought I could make step #3 to step #4 be separate workflows. However, that would damage my last step, which is to email the instantiator that their content has been approved. My understanding of the way workflow works is that if another workflow instantiation catches the publish from #3 which causes it to enter #4, the instantiator would then be the CFO approver rather than the individual that edited the content from within the CFO's office.
So, my question(s) is(are):
Can I "copy" similar workflows to simply change the groups involved for #1-3
Is there a way to preseve the instantiator across a system like this, or should #4+ be included in each individual workflow to presever the instantiator?
