I tried to install SmartBlog v. 2.1.1 on my existing site running Umbraco 7.1.9.
I ran into an issue where after I installed from the SmartBlog 2.1.1 zip file, Umbraco backoffice just hung and I could not even get to the login screen of Umbraco. I had to go through my site and remove the DLL's, the views, partial views and installedPackages.config references.
Is there a better way to install SmartBlog on an existing site rather than installing it as a Package. Because it is included as a Starter Kit, I see it installs all a whole new site, adds a bunch of DLLs needed and such.
Before I try to reinstall SmartBlog, which looks very promising.
Is there a way to manually install it? Or something I should look out for if this happens again.
I, at one time, had uBlogsy installed too and all of it's DLL's and components. So I don't know if that could have been a conflict with SmartBlog.
But like I said, before I go trying to install it again, is there someway I can install it on a fairly small existing site, without causing issues?
Yes you can install it on an existing site, i have done it before.
May be the version was not compatible with the umbraco version of the site.
Try installing an older version of smart blog maybe?
Maybe Luke can help you with the versions.
You may be right. It does say the latest versions is untested on 7.1.x. on the project page. I need to upgrade Umbraco anyways. I will try that first.
I still have a feeling it might have been something with the other blog DLLs too. If you have been able to do it, I will just try again. Thanks for letting me know it is possible.
Can SmartBlog be installed on existing site?
