    Editing an order received

Will it be possible to edit an order received in Tea Commerce?

A common scenario is that you have to remove or reduce items from an new received order (never add), either because the customer wants to change the order, or if the product turns out to be out of stock.

Very important function in a stand alone shop :o)

Really looking forward to trying out Tea Commerce!

    Hi Christian and Lee,

We did not plan on opening the whole order for edit once finalized.

What you can do right now is edit all of what we call "order properties". Order properties are all the ekstra information that you can attach to an order. Excamples would be personal information, customer notes etc. These are in no way desided up front, but you as the developer choose what order properties to add and when.

So those you can edit. It would though be very posible for us to open up for editing of most of the order, including order lines. If you want it we can make it, but I believe you will have to talk to Anders Burla about it, as it's also a question of budget. Anders can be reached at his mail [email protected] or on our company telephone +45 82 307 306.

Haven't had time to play with it yet, but sure looks like a really great product...

I also hope that you will make order editing part of your standard product, as it an important and widely used feature :-)

Is the shop shown in the screenshots also available for download or a part of the package?

Wish you the best of luck with sales!

    Hi Horsted,

The shop on the screenshots are not yet available. It's to be our demoshop - obviously - and will not be a part of the product. We will be blogging from our experiences creating it. Already started out here http://rune.gronkjaer.dk/en-US/2010/11/12/tea-commerce-javascript-api-in-general/

More posts will be out soon, with examples and such. Wish the day would have more hours available for stuff like this :)

When we're ready the demoshop will be available to try out. To see the backend part you must download Tea Commerce and install it yourself.

All features will be available, but the unlicensed version are locked to 10 orders. The orders can be deleted in the backend, so you can keep on testing.

Well, being able to edit an order before creditcard payment is acitivated is a "!" / "NO Go!" feature for me, since it's one of the first thing my clients ask for, when switching to a new ecommerce platform. Only talking about order lines here, as in deleting order lines, and reducing quantities in order lines - never adding order lines, unless they have no extra cost for the customer.

....so whenever sombody have tried it (not a programmer myself), tell us about it :o)

You can not change the orderlines like you mention there. The system locks the price, name and other info of the orderline when it is added to the cart. You can ONLY edit the quantity and delete the order line! So no fear. The order lines are safe :)

What we could do is making that feature available in the backend as well. The plan was to lock the order after payment. But if someone needs the feature we will think of adding it.
