If you buy 2 licenses you can of course use both in the same umbraco solution and use them for the same shop. You just copy both license files to your bin folder when you have purchased them - and all will work fine.
The license is checked everytime an order is created - so if you can add products at both domains, you will need 2 licenses. But you can set a setting so the cart is shared for both domains giving you the same cart.
I have been looking for the setting that allows the cart to be shared over multiple domains but cannot find it. Is it something to do with the call to GetOrderXML?
Also, we have not been able to come up with a viable solution yet to the problem of the licensing for multiple domains. The problems we have are:
- the main domain contains european letters such as ö so it is not acceptable to have this domain shared with the English site (as well as being difficult to spell & pronounce for English speakers)
- For some products we would like to set up 1 page sites as well (www.myproduct.com). On these sites all that would be required is a "add to Cart" and the "view cart" would take them to the main site.
- We're happy for all admin to be done through 1 URL (and a suggestion we have for this is to change the licensing to be admin based rather than at order creation so the admin view is limited to 20 orders)
One thought I had is that at the "Add to Cart" stage we could include the full URL in the Form that is used for postback i.e.
As the license is checked at order creation and this will be the only place on our site where orders are created do you think this would work technically?
As well as working around the technical setup I want to make sure we're not bypassing the spirit of the licensing? The solution we want to achieve is not particularily unique for multi-language sites, I would think, so might act as good showcase for similar sites.
- First of all. Within a week we will release a new version of Tea Commerce that will let you choose to share the cart between several domains. We have not published it yet, but it runs on several of our own websites.
- Although it's technically possible to post a form between two domains, the new version of Tea Commerce will not allow it, as the license check will spoil it :( The refferer domain will be checked, as well as the current domain, so you will still need one license for every domain. How many domains are we talking about?
Thanks for your comments. Is there any chance you will reconsider your licensing setup? We are happy for all administration to be done through a single URL...
We want to have 2 domains where the checkout process may occur and several others may need the mini-cart.
I don't think that we will change our license setup, because we think it's fair that you pay a license fee for all sites that offer the possibility to handle products and a cart. Of course if you need to buy a lot of licenses you would write us an email and we could look at how to make the setup. You can write info (at ) teacommerce.dk
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll discuss it with my client and let him decide which course of action to take. I hope he will go with a multi-license setup as I really don't want to be presenting English speaking users with a domain name containing letters from the European alphabet (e.g. ö)
Multi-lingual site - 2 domains
Hi,
We are planning on having 2 versions of our shop on 1 Umbraco install i.e.
www.swedishURL.com/shop
www.englishURL.com/shop
Do we need to purchase 2 licenses when this is actually just 1 multi-lingual site?
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul,
You will need one license per top domain. So in your example above you would need two licenses.
If you could have one top domain with several sub domains you would only need one license. like this:
se.thetopdomain.com/shop
en.thetopdomain.com/shop
/Rune
For marketing purposes we require to have 2 domains i.e. an English language domain name and a Swedish language domain name.
If we buy 2 licenses I assume they can co-exist on the same Umbraco install? (In the backend we want to maintain it as 1 shop)
Thanks

Hi Paul
If my previous answer was a solution to your question it would be a great help for others if you could mark it as the solution - thanks :)
Kind regards

Hi Anders,
I am still discussing solutions with the client. We may have to look at a single shop URL for licensing. I'll let you know how we get on.

Paul
Hi Paul
No problem - you just let me know if I can help you with anything.
Kind regards
Anders
Hi,
Would this solution work: have the 2 URL's set up with a mini-cart. "View Cart" then takes you to the licensed URL?

Paul
