    Tea Commerce for Umbraco v8?

Hi Tea Commerce team, what are your plans for Tea Commerce support in Umbraco v8?

    Hi Tor

Umbraco 8 is still a bit out in the future, but we have already started to port the back office to angular and Umbraco 8. We don't know when Umbraco 8 is ready and because of that we are not in a hurry to do the porting.

    Kind regards

Thanks Anders, and sorry for slow follow up!

My main interest is in knowing that Tea Commerce will commit to doing an upgrade for Umbraco v8. Yes?

I understand that v8 is still a bit into the future, but I'm pretty sure we will upgrade to it when it's available.

We have spent time and effort into learning and understanding Tea Commerce, but haven't committed to it yet. Knowing that it will be available for v8 would be beneficial in our decision making process.

The link you gave is for the open source part of Tea Commerce and it looks like the latest commit there is about a year old. What about the core, closed source parts of the product?

    No problem :)

I get why you need this and it is the plan to do that. Even though the upgrade path from Umbraco 7 to 8 isnt clear just yet. But hopeful will be at some point :)

The core will not change that much for Umbraco v8 as the core is built without Umbraco in mind. It is the open source part that is the integration with Umbraco and therefor needs to be updated.

Now that U8 is released for some time, Can you comment on a timeline for a release of Tea Commerce that supports U8?

    Hi John,

We are currently working hard on a v8 update so it's definitely our main priority for TC. There is however a lot of work in getting it v8 ready so unfortunately it isn't a straight forward upgrade path.

Our current aim (though not set in stone) is to get a preview out by the end of the year. We've made some good progress so far, but we still have some big ticket items still to port over so is still going to take a little time.

Although v8 has been out for a while now already, from a package developers perspective there is still quite a bit of turbulence in the core codebase so realistically we won't be able to support v8 till after v8.1 regardless due to some important breaking changes it will introduce.

Regardless, as I say, TC v8 is coming, we are just spending a bit of time make it as future ready as we can, but in the meantime we are committed to supporting the v7 version.

Hope this helps answer your question

    Matt
